Sandy’s talent for design began at an early age when her mother taught her how to sew and encouraged her to change store bought patterns to fit her own style.  Her first job, sewing for a local ballet company, merged her love for fashion with theatre.  

 

Her design experience includes spending 8 years as a Fashion Designer in both Seattle and New York City---working for Nordstrom, Lord & Taylor and Mavi Jeans.  She has also done freelance work for Marc by Marc Jacobs, Victoria’s Secret Pink and Converse One Star.

Selected Costume Design credits include:  Measure For Measure (Chesapeake Shakespeare Company); Beehive the 60's Musical (NextStop Theatre Company); The Glass Menagerie, The Comedy of Errors, Kiss Me Kate & Twelfth Night (Annapolis Shakespeare Company); Macbeth, Loves Labour's Lost, Romeo & Juliet,The Merchant of Venice & Twelfth Night  (Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre); Antony & Cleopatra, Macbeth and Twelfth Night  (Illinois Shakespeare Festival);  The Producers, The Crucible, Radium Girls, and many more...(at the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point);  A Flea In Her Ear  and How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying (Center for the Performing Arts - ISU), Playboy of the Western World, Rhinoceros and Much Ado About Nothing (Westhoff Theatre-ISU), Two Rooms (Ironrose Productions, NY), The Wiz (Carco Theatre, Seattle), A Winter's Tale (Greenstage, Seattle), A Little Night Music (Babcock Theatre, Salt Lake City), Twelfth Night & Complete Works of William Shakespeare Abridged (Salt Lake Shakespeare).

Sandy also taught for three and half years as the Assistant Professor of Costume & Make-Up Design at the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point. She now lives in Maryland where she is a freelance costume designer and adjunct instructor.  She holds a BFA in Theatre from the University of Utah and a MFA in Costume Design from Illinois State University.
